Tourist attraction of Lalbagh Fort
Lalbagh Fort is one of the key tourist attractions of Dhaka City in Bangladesh. This is an unfinished Mughal fort from the 17th century, the construction of which was started by a Mughal prince who was the then governor of Dhaka.
The Lalbagh Fort is the most important Mughal monument in Bangladesh. It was initially designed as a riverine fortress-palace which absolutely amazed people.
The construction of Lalbagh Fort was initiated in 1678, during the viceroyalty of Bengal under Prince Azam Shah, the third son of the last great Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir, at his behest.
A long wall leads north-south along the western frontage of the Hammam and separates the entire fort into two parts. The architectural memorial has a small but valuable museum where you can see coins, painting, calligraphy etc.
I found the Museum very attractive in Lalbagh fort. It has ancient things used by Nawab Shaista khan, paintings, furniture as well as weapons used in wars at Mughal period. Everyday many people come here to enjoy this beautiful and historical fort. Diwan-i-Aam is attractive building. A single stored hammam is attached on its west. The hammam portion has an underground room for boiling water. A long partition wall runs along the western facade of the hammam.
Lalbagh fort is a Mughal palace which has three important ancient buildings, Pari Bibir Mazar, Darbar Hall and a Mosque. Memorial of Pari Bibi was designed by marbles, two fount and different types of flora. Three domed Mosque shows the beauty of Mughal Architecture. You will not regret visiting this enormous place, trust me!
