Counting the shoreline, Shakuni Dighi has a space of 1,01,162 square meters, a length of 48 meters, and a width of 198 meters. The lake was delved in 1943 to move the town of Madaripur toward the south for re-foundation on the banks of the Parramatta Arial Khan. On paper it is called 'Shakuni Dighi' yet to local people it is notable as 'Madaripur Lake'.
