What Mamunur Rahman saying about this place:
Ice creams and food are available inside the zoo but at a high price. But the ice-cream is recommended! We went to the zoo via CNG from Gulshan paying 300 takas. In the afternoon, we needed to walk 500 meters to the nearest station to get a cheaper CNG because the ones who stopped right outside the zoo gates after closing asked for higher fare. You can also take buses.

Bangladesh National Zoo is a zoo located in the Mirpur section of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The zoo contains many native and non-native animals and wild life, and hosts about three million visitors each year.
EditEstablished in 1974, the 186-acre (75 ha) Dhaka Zoo is the largest zoo in Bangladesh, and is operated by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.[3] The zoo attracts around 10,000 visitors every day with the number increasing during the weekends and holidays.
EditThe yearly budget of Dhaka Zoo is Tk 37.5 million, out of which Tk 25 million is spent on feeding the animals.
EditThe name of zoo has been changed from 5 February 2015 from Dhaka Zoo to Bangladesh National Zoo.
EditOn 26 December 1950, the agricultural, cooperation and aid ministry officially declared to establish a zoo in Dhaka. Hence the zoo started that time near Dhaka high court with several spotted deer, monkey and elephant.
EditThe zoo later shifted to present Eid-gah maidan with more animals.[6] Later in 1961 a board was created to ensure proper management of the zoo. Later, after acquiring animals from internal and from foreign countries, the zoo inaugurated at its present location 23 June 1974.
EditThis is a popular spot for Bangladeshi families on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. There are lots of open spaces and a nice atmosphere. It is meant to be educational with very common animals in pens like dogs, chickens, guinea pigs and so on. The cages for the lions and tigers are inadequate. The entrance fee is reasonable.

The national zoo is big and will offer you a great natural beauty. But the animals deserve a bit better cage and better maintenance. They receive a lot of funding but due to negligence, most of it never reach to the animals.

This place is a fun place with educational purposes for kids in Dhaka city. The kids gets to know how a tiger or other animals look like. But to our disappointment, bad smell comes from most of the cages. The cages should be cleaned up and monitored. Front side traffic and parking situation should also be improved.
