EditThis location was most likely named after Ray. Because this area was near the river, it was simple to find the clays used to build pots and disperse them everywhere by boat.
EditRayer Bazaar Bodhdhobhumi is in Dhaka's Mohammadpur district, near Beribadh. This area is primarily a continuation of the Turag River. Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Bangabandhu, inaugurated the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial here on December 14, 1996.
Editcurrent situation Rayer Bazaar has recently become a highly populated region. The area is terribly polluted, and the standard of living is quite low. "The traditional ceramic tradition is nearly extinct. We're lucky to locate two or three potters in here ". One of the primary sources of pollution in the area is the tannery in Hajaribaag, near Rayer Bazaar Boddhobhumi. Population increase has even created a major water shortage in this area.

Designed by architect Farid U Ahmed and Jami Al Shafi, the monument stands like a wall torn darkly against a blue blue sky. Carved in apparent despair is a sharp rectangular window to what appears to be hope in the sky. In the foreground is a long granite column emerging from a pool of still water. We stood at the edge for a few minutes to show respect to the intellectual martyrs.

This place is to cherish the bright lives of the martyrs, who were silent with bullets and bayonets. Rayer Bazar Graveyard will remain in our memories, in our history forever.
