The main room at the top of the marble stairs have a number of display cases which show 10th–11th century terracotta artifacts. There are a number of fine examples of Sanskrit and Arabic manuscripts, including copies of the Mahabharat, Ramayan, and a Quran whose provenance is attributed to none other than the Mughal Aurangzeb.

EditTajhat Palace was founded by a hindu merchant and immigrant from Panjab named Kumar Gopal Lal Roy (1887-1955), a jeweler by profession who managed to make his own fortune in Rangpur.
EditThe name of Tajhat palace came from Gopal Lal Roy's profession. He was a jeweler, 'Taj' means crown and 'Hat' means local market.
EditFrom 1984 to 1991 the palace was used as a Rangpur High Court Branch of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In 1995 the palace was declared as a protected monument by the Department of Archaeology. Recognizing its outstanding architectural value the Government of Bangladesh shifted the Rangpur Museum to the second floor of the palace in 2005.
EditInvesting 1.5 million dollars and appointing 2000 workers, Gopal Roy started constructing the U shaped white marbled gorgeous building at the beginning of 20th century.

The Tajhat Royal Palace is really royal just like its name. This is is large white colored modern mansion having a majestic fountain at the front yard. The whole place looks like a vast fairy land. The place aesthetic for taking nice photographs.
