The most impressive aspect of this two-floored building is the display of some prized examples of the lacquer-work boxes for which Maldives is famous, and various pieces of antique technology such as the country’s first gramophone, telephone and a massive computer representing the modern period. Broken pieces of Buddhist and Hindu idols, depictions of political events and, most crucially, a replica of the pen used to sign the ‘Declaration of Independence’ from the British Empire bring the tourist’s attention.
