The Ashfall Fossil Beds are a national natural site where full skeletons have been preserved for viewing. Visitors may watch paleontologists unearth barrel-bodied rhinos and other animals entombed by ash from a supervolcanic eruption 12 million years ago at the research center and active excavation site. There is no other spot on the planet like it.
