EditExcavation in 1961 at the site revealed cultural materials of the Pala, Muslim, and Colonial periods. In the lower level, remains of buildings and a few terracotta plaques of the Pala period have been unearthed. In the middle level remains of buildings and associated glazed pottery represent the Muslim period.
EditThe uppermost level has revealed a dwelling house of late 18th or early 19th century. The building consists of four separate blocks around a small courtyard - all enclosed within a rectangular boundary wall. Among the antiquities recovered from the site are fragments of a Visnupatta, large number of glazed pottery and kauris (Kaudi), and two East India Company coins. Close by, there is a well, popularly known as Jiat Kunda (well of life), which is possibly related to the palace.
EditThe upper layer is established in the relatively modern era, a whole new design of a dwelling place has been identified. Four separate mahals or parts were found to have been built facing a small courtyard in the inner mahal. Several chambers, including the entrance to the Mahals, the staircase, the boundary wall, and two entrances to the east and west have been discovered. The main entrance is on the east side. Patterns of two guardrooms can be seen on both sides of it.
EditNext to the palace is a well called "Jiyat Kunda". According to myth, during the war with Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahiswar, Parshuram could bring the dead soldiers back to life with the help of water from this well.
