oak openings metropark
Oak Openings Preserve, located between Whitehouse and Swanton, gets its name from the surrounding region, which is 23 times larger than the park itself. Oak Openings is home to the country's only public treehouse village, as well as two campers and two cabins where families can get out in nature. Oak Openings is a birder's dream come true. Bluebirds, indigo buntings, whippoorwills, Lark sparrows, and many other species use it as a nesting site, and it's also a great place to view migrating songbirds in the spring.
