Golakata mosque is situated in Barobazar under Kaliganj Thana in Jhenaidah District. It is about 4 kilometres from Barobazar highway. Twelve Aulias used to live in Barobazar, Jhenidah. It is famous for its treasures such as its 10 mosques, 11 lakes and 4 graves of the Sultanate period. There lived twelve Aulias in each 12 different bazaars. For which this historical capital was termed as Barobazar. The mosque is situated on the northern side of the main road

Golakata mosque bears no inscription, but according to its stylistic resemblance with the architecture of early Ilyas Shahi period in Choto Pandua as Hazrat Pandua;such as freestanding stone pillar will chain and bell motive on the round shaped shaft and a petal capital, multi-unit prayer hall, octagonal turret, vertical offset and recessed niche containing mouldings or frieze on the base, it may be assumed that this structure was built in early 15th or late 14th century AD prior to the Khan Jahan’s architectural development in Bagerhat.
