Beauty of Isha Khan's Jangalbari Fort

Traces of the moat surrounding the fort testify to its circular shape. A deep moat excavated on the south, west, and north was connected with the Narasunda River in the east. The fort appears to be sited on an island, surrounded by waterways that are so deep that one needs to cross over to the fort by boat even in the dry season. Only scattered brickbats, potsherds, and a few low mounds of the fort exist today.

Significance of Isha Khan's Jangalbari Fort

Brickbats and potsherds found outside the site of the fort, especially on its south, west, and northwest, appear to be from the pre-Muslim period and indicate that the fort was built prior to the advent of the Muslims and was once the centre of a flourishing settlement. However, Isa Khan should be credited for erecting a number of structures inside the fort area.
