Hatir Jheel is basically an integrated project of water refinary and East-West connecting gateway of the Dhaka City. It is now open for public access. People from neighbouring area enjoys morning walk and jogging here. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful lit up view at evenings. It connects 6 major residential areas to the commercial zones.

Hatir Jheel is named so because elephants of the Nawabs of Dhaka used to be bathed here. This place had turned into a stinking waterbody that people of the city used to dread. A few years ago, the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology started restoring the lake by dredging it,refilling it and constructing enormous bridges over it. This is a popular hangout area in Dhaka.
