The historic Kalyan Dighi is estimated to be four hundred years old when excavated by King Sitaram. On the other hand, other sources say that this dighi was dug by one of the famous muslim preachers and local ruler of Bagerhat, Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (ra.) Nevertheless, whoever has dug this dighi, has given us a great historic place! The area around the dighi is recognized as a growing region and information on the arrival of various auliyas. There’s also information about the arrival of two Pir Auliyas here in the early 16th century. So if the dighi is excavated by Khan Jahan Ali (ra.) it's about 600 years old!

Loved visiting the place! It’s still so vibrant and evergreen for such a historic place. Went there 2 years back and still remember how convenient the journey to the place was. We took a bus from Gabtali (in dhaka) straight to Rajbari. Alternate way is to take a BRTC bus, reach Paturia, cross the river with a launch and take another bus to Rajbari. However you go, the journey is pretty affordable. You can go to the dighi with an easybike.
