Taj Mahal - monument

ताज महल - स्मारक

Address: Tajganj, Agra, Uttar Pradesh - ताजगंज, आगरा, उत्तर प्रदेश

What Arafat Hasan saying about this place:

There are several intriguing facts regarding this monument. During the construction of the Taj Mahal, a thousand elephants were used to transport building materials. Jade and crystal came from China, jasper from Punjab, turquoise from Tibet, Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan, carnelian from Arabia, and sapphire from Sri Lanka. There are roughly 28 different types of precious and semi-precious stones in the famous marble inlay art. The structure is designed so that sunlight floods in through the jaali and falls directly on the cenotaphs. What a memorable experience I had there, and I will always treasure these memories.

If you've decided to be mesmerized by the architectural brilliance of the Taj Mahal and are arranging a journey to see the wonders of this magnificent monument, the first thing that comes to mind is how to get to the Taj Mahal. Air travel is the quickest way to go to Agra and the Taj Mahal. Flights to Agra are available on a daily basis with Indian Airlines. Agra is connected to the rest of the country via a well-developed train network. The Palace on Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Taj Express are the primary trains that connect Agra and Delhi. Agra has regular bus services to a number of significant cities. After arriving in the city, you'll need to take some form of local transportation to get to the Taj Mahal. In the city, taxis, tempos, auto rickshaws, and cycle rickshaws are readily available to transport you to your destination.

The Taj Mahal is far larger than I had anticipated. The structure is centered on Mumtaz and Jahan's final resting place. The actual tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz, on the other hand, are located in a chamber in a basement room that is not open to the public. The Taj Mahal is surrounded by a multitude of structures, including a mosque. The magnificent gardens are well-kept and bustling with guests, mostly from India, at the time of my visit. There are three gates that lead to the Taj Mahal. It was built with white marble from the Rajasthani town of Makrana. It may be seen at any time of day, including early morning at sunrise, afternoon, and sunset, and it appears stunning in the full moonlight.
