What Jakaria Talukdar saying about this place:
I and my friends really appreciated the local shops and street sellers providing a variety of local goods there. They sell a variety of fascinated items. However, we decided to schedule a dawn tour for the next morning and travel to two completely different cities, Nagarkot and Bhaktapur.

EditThere is a beautiful Tibetan nearby, also there are some eateries around the place.
EditA festival is celebrated on the full moon of September and October
EditWhere hinduism was an important part of the country's culture, it had a pleasant aspect with hundreds of pigeons fluttering up as you neared the golden stupa. There wasn't much to do but seeing the holy golden monument and Kathmandu's Durban square was the spectacular experience. A few little temples that resembled chapels all looked the same.

There are various mythology linked with this place. According to the old tales, when Acharya Vak-vajra of Kwa-baha was on pilgrimage along the sacred Ganges river was requested to consecrate a chaitya built by the king of Benaras. Vak-vajra sprayed Ganges water all over the monument. The king, on the other hand, did not believe in his power. Vak-vajra then sat in meditation, raised the chaitya, and moved it to its current place in Kathmandu to demonstrate his might. According to another narrative, the stupa was built with materials left over during the construction of Swayambhunath stupa.
